Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior representative commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
