Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
